Role Overview

We are seeking a friendly and proactive Learner Support Assistant to join our team in Chorley. This part-time contract role is integral to supporting learners’ educational journeys within our Access Education Group. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored assistance, helping learners overcome barriers and develop confidence in their studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners, helping them understand course materials and develop study skills.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages learner engagement and independence.
  • Support learners with additional needs, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, ensuring reasonable adjustments are implemented.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to identify learner needs and contribute to personalised learning plans.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide feedback to tutors and relevant staff.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote Access Education Group’s values and policies.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of learning resources and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner support activities and report any concerns promptly.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in an educational or learner support role is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges learners face and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with learners.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
  • Qualification in Education, Learning Support, or related fields is advantageous but not essential.
